As a reader of both the article and the story, I find that this article does express a correct dea. The lady in question turns out to be the wife of the Green Knight, who actually goes by the name of Bertilak de Hautdesert. In the story, Sir Gawain is seeking refuge in the castle belonging to a mysterious nobleman. The man strikes up a deal with Gawain stating that they will trade every night for whatever the other gains throughout the day. While the husband goes out for the hunt, Gawain is confronted by the noble lady. He notices her white and red mingling in her lovely face and her slender laughing lips. When she first enters upon his room, he is confused as to why she is there, but decides that she is innocent and eager, as described in the story and in the article. I believe that this thought indicates that the author believes that men are above woman. For him to assume she is innocent, he must be looking down upon her, thinking that she is Just lost or confused. He does not believe she has intentions because he believes that she would not be able to think of such a thing. It is similar to modern day, how men assume all blondes are ditzy. This type of thinking is isogynistic and gives a false sense of empowerment in men. l have wanted to learn from you, sir, the noble lady said. This line, spoken by the woman of the household, leads me to believe that both Sir Gawain and this womans behavior was misogynistic. The woman purposefully acted lowly, and Sir Gawain accepted her for how she was. He did not question her curiosity and she did not put any efforts forward to prove her intelligence or position as a noble woman. Since at the end ot the story it all turns out to be a scheme, I am lead to believe that sne is cting like this to support Sir Gawains ideas about woman. I do not believe that she is truly such an innocent woman, but more fueling the misogynistic fire so that she could get what she wants. The story Sir Gawain and The Green Knight by Barron is a medieval tale with many interesting elements and ideas. The hints of Misogynistic thought are found in various places throughout the story. William Golding's Lord Of The Flies Everyone, at one time or another, has dreamed of running away to a deserted island to get away from the life of the real world, but in William Golding's Lord of the Flies this perceived dream of a deserted island is brought to reality. When the dream did come true for some English boys things don't actually turn out as glorious as imagined. Human nature went into effect and let evil run wild. The Island paradise they once saw turned into a bloody nightmare. A message that ran rampant throughout the novel was that evil is inherited in everyone. By looking at three very important scenes, one can see how the effects of evil are permanently etched into everyone's personality. Understanding those events are vital to understanding the overall theme of the book. The constant reminder of inherent evil didn't start off right away when the boys arrived at the island. Evil slowly crept into the open. This valid point invites me to show you one of the first moments where evil attacked. Henry (a little boy on the island) was playing on the beach when several triumphant splashes in the water surrounded him. It was the arm of Roger (a character that experienced evil more than anyone) who was throwing stones at the littlun. This key point in the book illustrated how Roger began to love the power he could have over other living things. He enjoyed this power, but was still living by the rules of the real world. I could see the good slipping away from Roger even though there was a space around Henry, perhaps six yards in diameter, into which he dare not throw (62). This was one of the many meetings with evil that Roger would join in on. This significant point in the book paints a clear image of how evil wanders in peoples souls. As done with very intricate novels, things are hidden that you have to search for. These monumental points are found deep into the book. They don't pop out right away. With the help of others, one of these symbolic moments trampled over our faces. The enjoyment that the boys had from killing a sow made a light bulb click on and we realized that that Golding made this event to appear like a rape. The words they used and the brutality of killing drew the evil out of them as if a rape would. When the sow fell and the hunters hurled themselves at her I knew the evil had gone full steam ahead (135). This event should be historic throughout this novel for its importance of clearly displaying how evil is in everyone deep down inside. When the good turns to bad you know there's something wrong. You feel almost as if there's no place to go because the only place turn just became a lonely deserted road. The way Golding described one of these moments really got me thinking. When Ralph (one of the children who resisted the evil to the end) felt the desire to squeeze and hurt I knew that evil was close to capturing everyone (115). It seemed nearly impossible to me for Ralph to surrender to the temptations of evil, but there he was doing it. I felt like we failed. I knew then at that moment that evil could grab any one and destroy them at their weak points. This could have been one of the best argumentative points I had to give depth to my grasp of the way evil works. In the end good did surpass evil and it cured all of the boys from the wrong temptations. I know now that evil does reside in the darkness of everyone's sole. I'm prepared to watch out for it now and shove it back into its shadowy corner when it strikes. Roger suffered the most from evil, but turned to good in the end. I still can't believe that the evil almost got Ralph. He was one of the strongest and held on until the end. When I was reading As a Man Thinketh by James Allen it was as if a curtain opened, and some things which I had sensed from a distance, suddenly became sharp and clear. I had already been quite familiar with the destructive effect that negative thoughts had been having on my life, and it has been a struggle sometimes to overcome fear and even panic. This text taught me that what goes on inside my head can also have good and positive effects, so long as I learn to channel the positive things in the world and have courage to take responsibility and control for my own actions, while leaving the things I cannot change to exist as they are. Most of the things that people are afraid of are due to bad experiences in the past, or stress in the present, and it was a valuable lesson for me to discover that mental attitude can have a big influence on shaping the way that the future unfolds. Reading a book such as The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ by Levi H. Dowling was an interesting experience for me, because it raised all sorts of questions about the sources that underpin most of the modern denominations of Christianity, and the different branches of Judaism, Islam and other world religions. I was intrigued, but not was entirely convinced by the authenticity of this material, but it caused me to wonder about how the scriptures that modern Christians use came to be in the form that they are. It was clear to me that large sections of the life of Jesus were not recorded there, and this means that the record has gaps. The missing teenage years are possibly very relevant to today’s world, but the traditional texts do not include them. I reflected on the combination of written texts, religious practices and personal experience of God that makes up modern Christianity, and this gave me a deeper understanding of how and why differences arise in the way that particular groups choose to live out their faith. Emphasis on one or other aspect can change the whole style of a religious group, and even cause major difference in items of doctrine. In the past I have been perplexed by this, but now I can see that it is very human for variations to creep in, and for multiple paths to be formed, leading in the same general direction. I am less worried about minor differences now, and can see that there is something to be gained in an appreciation of different perspectives. I do not think that any one group, or even any one religion, has the complete and absolute truth, and now I can see value in the differences. Motor Development Motor development is defined as "the development of skill in the use of the body and its parts" (Charlesworth 12). There are three areas of motor development: gross motor skills, fine motor skills, and perceptual motor skills. Gross motor skills require the "use of large muscles†¦as well as general strength and stamina" (Trawick-Smith 201) and they are the first to develop in infants. Two examples of these skills would be creeping or standing with help. For older children, examples of gross motor skills would be jumping rope, martial arts, soccer, or swimming. Fine motor skills require the use of "smaller muscles in the arms, hands, and fingers" (Trawick-Smith 209). In infants, an example of this motor skill would be grasping an object. Demographic variables are very popular among marketers as they are often associated with consumer needs and wants; another is that they are easy to measure. (Philip Kotler, 2009) Age and Lifecycle Age and Lifecycle are important variables to define segments as the needs and wants of the consumer change with age. Johnson & Johnson’s baby oil which is popular in India is a classic example of product of infants. Their characteristics are mature , responsible, well-educated professionals. They have high incomes but are practical consumers and rational decision makers. Believers: These consumers are the low-resource group of those who are motivated by ideals. They are predictable and conservative consumers who favor established brands. They have modest incomes. ?Achievers. These consumers are the high-resource group, motivated by achievement. Work-oriented people who get their satisfaction from their jobs and families fall under this category. They are politically conservative and respect authority and the status quo. They favor established products and services that show off their success to their peers. ?Strivers. These consumers are the low-resource group who are motivated by achievements. They have values very similar to achievers but have fewer economic, social, and psychological resources. Style is extremely important to them as they strive to emulate people they admire. ?Experiencers: These consumers are the high-resource group of those who are motivated by self-expression. They are the youngest and energetic of all the segments, . They have a lot of energy, which they pour into physical exercise and social activities. They are avid consumers, spending heavily on clothing, fast-foods, music, and other youthful favorites, with particular emphasis on new products and services. Makers: These consumers with low-resource group of those who are motivated by self-expression. They are practical people with value self-sufficiency. They are focused on the familiar-family, work, and physical recreation-and have little interest in the broader world. As consumers, they appreciate practical and functional products. ?Survivors. These consumers are with lowest incomes. They have t oo few resources to be included in any consumer self-orientation and are thus located below the rectangle. Oldest of all the segments, with a median age of 61. They tend to be brand-loyal consumers. The age group taken into consideration here is 18 to 25 year. Behavioral Segmentation Behavioral segmentation divides a population based on their behavior, the way the population respond to, use or know of a product. Thus consumer decision making is affected by his behavior and that is exactly how the behavioral segments are targeted. That’s one more kind of behavior which marketers target. The strategy for brand loyal customers is very different from that used for acquiring new customers. Usage rate – In residential or commercial segment, the usage can be demonstrated in the form of heavy usage, moderate usage or lesser usage. Taking the example of beauty parlors or personal care. There are some customers who use a lot of personal care products whereas others do not use personal care products much. Thus depending on their usage the customers can be targeted. Among the age group that we are focused on one may find all such behavioral buying patterns. The colleges I plan on attending after high school are Rogers State University and Oral Roberts University. For these two colleges I want to major in computer programming, I think that programming computers and websites would be a lot of fun, and quite useful these days.
